Mozambique's President Inaugurates Construction on Chimuara-Alto Molocue Power Transmission Line

Inauguration

On March 18, the President of the Republic of Mozambique, His Excellency Filipe Jacinto Nyusi laid the first stone of the high-voltage 400 kV transmission line extending from Chimuara to Alto-Molocue.

Coming in at 367 kilometres and with over 850 towers, the line is one of the longest and most ambitious power transmission lines in Africa.

Along with the two new 400/220 kV substations in Chimuara and Alto Molocue, each with an approximate area of 60,000 m2, it will comprise the first phase of the transformational Chimuara-Nacala power transmission venture, which will develop 1,000 kilometres of transmission lines linking Mozambique’s central power network to the northern network. Once complete, this venture will provide sustainable solutions to the region, thus empowering the residential communities and continuously growing industries in Northern Mozambique.

As the company in charge of design review, project management, and construction supervision, Dar is honoured to be contributing to this essential development project, which promises to create job opportunities for local people, expand the electrical grid to rural communities, and promote commercial and industrial investments in Mozambique.
