Event
From November 30th until December 12th, the world’s leaders and top consultants, businesses, researchers, activists, and non-governmental organisations are convening in Dubai for COP28 UAE, the world’s foremost climate change conference, to discuss progress and coordinate climate action.
As one of the leading sponsors of COP28, Dar is joining our global partners in Dubai to advocate for transformative solutions that can bend the carbon curve and drive progress towards decarbonisation and net zero, even in sectors that have historically been the most difficult to decarbonise, such as the built environment, transportation, aviation, data centres, healthcare, and more.
Building resilience for over four billion people
At COP28, Dar is a proud sponsor of the Resilience Hub, the main pavilion for climate resilience and adaptation at COP28 and the home of the UN-backed Race to Resilience Campaign. With catastrophic climate impacts increasing every year and affecting vulnerable communities around the world, resilience – or the ability to persist, adapt, and transform in the face of shocks and stresses – is becoming ever more critical. The Resilience Hub is an inclusive virtual and physical space designed to mobilize action on resilience and adaptation at COP28 and beyond, primarily to push forward its mission to build resilience for over four billion people.
The Resilience Hub will be located in COP28’s Blue Zone, a site managed by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat. The Blue Zone hosts formal negotiations across the two weeks of the conference, as well as the World Climate Action Summit, the country pavilions, presidency events, and hundreds of side events including panel discussions, round tables, and cultural events.
Advocating for a sustainable built environment
Dar is also a proud sponsor of the Building Pavilion hosted by the Global Alliance of Buildings and Construction. The Building Pavilion is a collaborative space dedicated to advocating for a zero-emission, efficient and resilient building and construction sector. At the Building Pavilion, Dar will come together with sector specialists, delegations, and key decisionmakers to cross-pollinate ideas and messages around a core theme of building a better future by creating a more sustainable, resilient, and eco-friendly built environment.
Our advocacy for a more sustainable built environment draws on ground-breaking research on sustainability in the built environment, prepared in partnership with Strategy& and PwC Middle East. The research, which will be presented in detail by our sustainability experts at COP28, focuses on how the MENA region can leverage its planned $2 trillion construction boom to become a global leader in innovative, sustainable, and resilient built environments.
A net zero Dar Pavillion in the Green Zone
Dar is also one of the major sponsors of the Green Zone at COP28, and we are hosting our own Dar Pavilion in the Energy Transition Hub. Throughout COP28, the Pavilion – which was designed as a net zero structure in line with our company’s commitment to sustainability – will host a series of panels, workshops, and presentations focused on decarbonisation, energy transition, resilient reconstruction, and numerous other topics.
With our greatest ever participation at a COP event, we look forward to joining our global partners to push for exceptional sustainability solutions for the built environment, building on our commitment to support our clients and communities on their paths to decarbonization, net zero, and a brighter future.
