Continuing an exceptional partnership, Dar is honoured to once again be sponsoring and participating in the Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats’ 2025 global conference From the Ground Up: Tall Buildings and City-Making. The event will take place from the 6th until the 9th of October in Toronto, Canada, at the Westin Harbour Castle, in the heart of downtown Toronto’s revitalised waterfront district.
Reflecting its leadership in tall building design and engineering, Dar has been a member of CTBUH since 1994. Our company has provided extensive consultancy services on some of the region’s most ambitious tall building projects, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Makkah Royal Clock Tower and Abraj Al Bait Towers, Egypt’s Iconic Tower (which is part of the New Administrative Capital’s Central Business District and is already the tallest building in Africa), Dubai’s upcoming Safa Two tower, and numerous others. With a portfolio of over 70 towers and high-rise buildings, Dar has an intricate understanding of the sensitive architecture and design choices, complex engineering, and critical project management challenges inherent to high-rise projects. And we provide end-to-end services for high-rise projects – covering everything from the specifically-required geotechnical and seismic investigations to architectural design and detailed multidisciplinary engineering all the way through construction supervision to handover.
This summit, Dar will join experts and thought leaders from across the industry to discuss the future of urban density and how tall buildings – particularly their first floors – can be used as an opportunity to create and frame great streets, spotlight the public realm, and enhance the connections that give cities and communities their unique identities.
CTBUH Annual Structure Award 2025
During the conference, Dar’s Patrick Abi Khalil – an exceptional structural engineer with over 23 years of experience in designing structural solutions for high-rise buildings and geometrically complex structures – will be serving as a jury member for the CTBUH Annual Structure Award. The award showcases and celebrates innovative structural assemblies and solutions (including structural, wind, and geotechnical engineering and more) that enhance tall buildings and provide breakthroughs and extraordinary contributions to the field.
Developing high-rise icons in world-leading cities
Ramy Nuoir – another leading Dar structural engineer with over 22 years of experience in structural analysis and design for major building and infrastructure projects – will be serving as the Chair for the “Pushing Limits: Developing Icons in Complex Urban Contexts” workshop session. The session will spotlight two of the world’s most ambitious towers – Kuala Lumpur’s Merdeka 118 and the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) – to address general global common challenges facing building at extreme height. The session will include the CEO of PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad (PMWSB) and the Group CEO of KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd, discussing how their teams navigate challenges such as site constraints, engineering complexity, and delivery timelines to guide the development of two tall icons in Malaysia.
Join us as we shape the future of our tall buildings and nurture the cities that host them.
