Dar is proud to announce the signing of a landmark consultancy contract to provide Design Review and Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for the modernisation of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), one of East Africa’s most important aviation infrastructure programmes.
The appointment marks the next chapter in Dar’s long-standing contribution to the transformation of Kenya’s premier international gateway. Dar’s previous involvement included leading the preparation of the Airport Master Plan, Feasibility Study, Capacity Optimisation Study, Concept Design, and EPC tender documents. Now, under the new agreement, Dar will support the project through the design review, contract administration, and construction supervision phases.
Drawing on its world-class aviation expertise and extensive programme management experience, Dar will help ensure that the project is delivered to the highest international standards of quality, safety, operational performance, and delivery excellence.
The contract was signed at the offices of Kenya’s State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development in Nairobi, attended by senior representatives of the Government of Kenya and the Kenya Airports Authority.
This milestone reflects the confidence placed in Dar’s aviation expertise and further strengthens its enduring partnership with the Government of Kenya and the project stakeholders.
The modernisation of JKIA will reinforce Kenya’s position as a leading regional aviation hub, enhance the passenger experience, expand operational capacity, and improve the airport’s resilience and efficiency. It will also play an important role in supporting the country’s long-term economic growth and global connectivity.
Architecture for JKIA serves as a storyteller. Every transition, every shift in scale, and every interaction with light and material reinforces the relationship between permanence and movement that defines the Kenyan landscape. Through these elements, the terminal brings geological memory, cultural identity, and global connectivity together in a unified architectural experience.
The vision is of an airport that belongs to its place, celebrates its heritage, and confidently projects Kenya’s aspirations onto the international stage. As a gateway for travel and a strong statement of Kenyan identity, its architecture embodies the vision of a nation whose past, present, and future are united through the enduring dialogue between Earth, Movement, and People.
We are honored to continue contributing to the future of Kenya's premier international gateway and look forward to working closely with all stakeholders to deliver a world class airport that will serve generations to come.
