The Ministry of Finance commissioned Dar to design and prepare the tender documents of the Madinah Convention Centre. In one year, we had constructed a center that was modern and one that comfortably accommodated the big number of people who frequented it. We also designed the center to mirror the religious context in which it was constructed as Al Madinah was chosen to be the capital of Islamic culture for 2013.

We drew on Islamic historical buildings for inspiration when it comes to the centre’s massing, domes, elevations treatments, interior decoration, patterns, and furniture. We also equipped the centre with the latest technologies like a translation booth, an info center, a press lounge, a backstage, etc.

We developed the centre on 3 floors, and included a basement level as well. We also accommodated for the needs of the users by dedicating part of the basement to parking spaces, along with the ground level parking. In total, we have provided parking for 2, 100 cars. We also included:

• A main convention theatre
• Two large exhibition halls
• Three multi-purpose halls
• Meeting rooms
• A business centre
• An economic and media centre
• Service areas.
